UL1479 — North American Firestop Certification

ANSI/UL 1479 | ASTM E814 Through-Penetration Firestop Systems

The FEG40 Intumescent Fire Collar is listed under UL System No. C-AJ-2941, tested to ANSI/UL 1479 (ASTM E814) — the primary North American standard for firestop systems at plastic pipe penetrations through fire-rated floors and walls.

UL1479 certification is required by the International Building Code (IBC) and NFPA 101 for firestop systems in commercial and residential construction across the United States and Canada. Specification engineers reference the UL system number directly in project drawings and specifications.

What UL1479 Means for Your Project

Required by IBC and NFPA 101

The International Building Code (IBC) Section 714 and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code require that through-penetration firestop systems at combustible pipe penetrations be tested and listed in accordance with ASTM E814 / UL1479. Products without this listing cannot be legally specified for covered projects in the United States and Canada.

Independently tested by UL

UL1479 listing means representative product samples were physically tested at a UL facility — not self-certified. The test evaluates flame resistance (F Rating), heat transmission (T Rating), and hose stream resistance. Ongoing surveillance by UL ensures listed products continue to meet the standard.

How engineers verify the listing

Specification engineers and building inspectors can independently verify FireEG’s UL listing by searching Certificate No. R40652 or System No. C-AJ-2941 in the UL Product iQ database at iq.ulprospector.com.
